Why not use Micrsoft FTP, or a third party software/freeware?  Filezilla?

I do not recommend loading any (additional) software on the iDirect units.  They are busy enough with their satellite and IP duties.  It is also a quick way to void warranty, iSupport, all of the above.

To answer your question, I am unsure because I have never tried it.

Backtrack,
As Mike stated you are better off with a third party device working behind the modem to perform this task.  You can turn on SSHD on the modem and use WINSCP to copy files but this will task the FPGA's and potentially degrade the service for any customers behind the modem.

To start SSH manually issue the following command at the # prompt.  service sshd start.  After this runs you can use a COTS package like WINSCP to move files.

What sorts of files are you trying to move around?
If you are messing about with option files, update packages, etc. - you should consider a TFTP server (again - on a device in the background - say your laptop/pc).  We have the best luck using TFTP for all direct file transfers on modems.  iDirect endorses the method as well.

iSite has a TFTP server included. So you can telnet to the satellite router and TFTP files from your iSite machin e. Go to File and select the TFTP server, choose a folder and its running.
