Title: Tier 2 Needed to Negotiate a Deal Afganistan Post by TeleComCounseling on Jul 22nd, 2009 at 10:13am
Hello everyone,
We are a small ISP in Afghanistan (7,500 Costumers) we are looking to expand our costumer base ( up to 100,000 costumers ) We are currently using the connection of another company that charges us per user. We need to establish a satellite connection with high bandwidth 1 GB now with the possibility of increasing up to 10 GB. please email me at samtf1@gmail.com if you have any offers. Thank you Sam |

Right now we have 256 Mbit/s up and 128 down.
How knowing that would that benefit you? Thank you |

I am a bit puzzled by your figures "256 Mbit/s up and 128 down"
Normally for mixed internet access and VoIP purposes the downlink is larger than the uplink. Also, a typical small ISP might have a satellite link capacity more like 750 kbit/s down and 256 kbit/s up and perhaps 75 customer PCs. These figures can be scaled for any number of customers on the basis of 10kbit/s down/ 3kbit/s up per PC or 12kbit/s up & down per VoIP phone. Satellite costs are approx $2500 - $7000 per month per Mbit/s. For 7500 customers I estimate that you need about 75 Mbit/s download and 25 Mbit/s upload, and this would need almost two satellite transponders (one each way). That is feasible, provided there is sufficient spare capacity available. To obtain capacities like 1 Gbit/s to 10 Gbit/s you need to help in the planning process for future new satellites. Think in terms of participating in a new Ka band satellite where there might be enough bandwidth. Best regards, Eric. |
