ClearBlue tells me that my dish is too far away from my house to get a good satellite connection...  could that be true?

Currently the dish is in a clearing (only visible spot) about 150 feet from the house...  never been an issue with tv signal, but wonder how much difference internet would be...

please advise.

Standard installation includes cable runs up to 150', but that includes cable inside the house too. That's cuz the typical cable those installers use isn't top shelf stuff. It's ok for moderate runs - up to 100' maybe -  but not so hot beyond that. Too much signal loss, and line amps are not permitted. So  more than 150', and your "free" standard installation becomes a non-standard installation.

If your total end-to-end cable run will exceed 150', you must prepare yourself to pay non-standard installation fees. Note also that a 150' distant dish will likely make your grounding non-standard as well. To conform to code, there's a good chance that will add to your installation cost as well.
