Title: Strange RX Lock Issues
Post by alexashinze on Feb 22nd, 2010 at 8:28am
Hello Professional Colleagues,
Here is a major issue I am having with option files. My ISP send me an option file for NSS10. I cannot get an RX lock with it. Now with same modem and another option file sent to me by another ISP for same satellite, I get a lock. I have received 5 different option files from same ISP and no RX lock. I load other NSS10 Option files I have and I get RX lock on a fly. The dish has been pointed to Nss10 and has been working there for a while.
Any solution to this kind of challenge.

Have a look at the options files and see what is different. They may have different frequencies, symbol rates, coding, tuning acquisition range, LNB switched on or off etc.

I am not sure about this next bit, but here is an idea..

If they appear identical, check that there are no spurious non printing characters at the end after the last visible character.

Select the text only, cut and paste to a new text file.  You must make the select include the last visible character exactly with no line feeds etc included after the end (I think!).

Best regards, Eric.

Hello Thanks. Can I paste the opf from both ISPs so you can help me look cos I have read thru again and again. As a fact, I have sent the NOC both option files for them to compare and make modifications to theirs, but still we have not made any headway.
Thanks Eric

You may send them as email attachments to me eric@satsig.net

If you paste them here in the forum, I suggest you delete the IP addresses and any passwords.

Best regards, Eric

Questions:

1. Is the spectrum (downstream carrier center freq)utilized in both options files on the same POL (rx)?
2. Is voltage (DC) enabled ( =1) on both options files?
3. What is the rx bit rate specified in the 1st options file?  2nd options file?
4. What type of LNB are you using? PLL or DRO?

Have you check the frequencies, symbol rates, type of LNB (PLL or DRO), and the options file sent to you by your provider? If yes and you confirm they are all Ok. I will advice you to increase acquisition range.

l have encounter the same problem, but when l increase the acquisition range l got the rlock.
