Title: Hughes universal LNB/OMT for HX VSAT system
Post by Eric Johnston on May 14th, 2010 at 6:10pm
To simplify installation of Ku band HX systems, HughesNet has introduced a new LNB combined with a cross-pol OMT.  One side of the OMT has a circular waveguide flange intended for connection to the feed horn. The other side of the OMT connects via a straight waveguide filter to the Hughes transmit BUC. The frequency range is 10.95 - 12.75 GHz, using two local oscillators 9.75 and 10.6 GHz selected using 22 kHz tone.

The Hughes PN is 1501882-0002.

More details HX universal LNB PN 1501882-0002

Best regards, Eric.

The new LNB with 1501882-0002 is replaced with previously  LNB ( LO 11.3GHz),

previously LNB local oscillator: 11.3GHz
L-band: 950-1450MHz
Frequency: 12.25-12.75MHz

how to set it ?

Thanks in advance!

Select the LNB option that should appear on the config screen that looks similar to this: "XXXXX UNIVERSAL".

Does this answer your query: HX universal LNB PN 1501882-0002 ?

Note the new device is a combined OMT/LNB, not an LNB in isolation.

Best regards, Eric.

Thanks for your message.

Yes, it is HX new universal LNB with p/n: 1501882-0002.

I need use LO with 11.3G, but new universal LNB doesn't work, even if modify sbc.cfg:

[RxLnbList]
Pure=11.3,11.3
Invacom=10.6,9.75

could you help me to fix the issue ?

Thanks,

Jean

You want to make the new Universal LNB operate with LO=11.3 GHz.

According to the information I have, this cannot be done.  You can choose either of two local oscillators 9.75 and 10.6 GHz, the upper one selected using 22 kHz tone ON.

Subtract 10.6 from your satellite downlink carrier frequency.  Can you tune the modem to the resulting  L band frequency ?

My understanding is that with the LNB text selected as "XXX Universal" or "TG_1501882-0002" you may then input the wanted satellite frequency 10.95 - 12.75 GHz and the modem will automatically select the LNB LO freq using the tone OFF or ON and calculate and tune to the corresponding L band frequency.

Note the file should be called "SBC.cfg", not "sbc.cfg".

Maybe you can do the process manually ? ie. select tone OFF/ON on the config screen and input an L band frequency.

What can you do on your HX modem ?  What is the highest L band tuning frequency it will accept ? Does the HX modem tune as far as 2150 MHz.

The universal LNB  p/n: 1501882-0002 is similar to Invacom SPV-10M but not identical. There are some internal circuit board changes. I don't know what these are or the way it affects the operation.

Best regards, Eric.
