Title: Router settings for Accelenet through HX50 modem
Post by Montourage on Nov 12th, 2010 at 7:00pm
We have the HX50 modem up and running with only a slight problem.  Any other data protocal other than HTTP/S is highly unreliable.  Either plugged directy into the modem or through a Draytek router.  I mentioned this issue to our ISP whom I gave remote access to the router inorder to check our settings.

They said everything seemed correct and I had even connected my computer through another network and confirmed that my programs transmitted data on them and yet not through the HX50.  I sent an email regarding my trouble shooting steps and how I was convinced there was something wrong between the HX50 and Server on ground or NOC.

I lost communication with tech support because Windows Live is one of the effected programs by the issue with about 20% up time at best.  An hour later, I could no longer connect to my router and instead was forwarded to a Bentley-Walker page that asked for information to set up the system.  I attempted to connect to my router remotely through Dynamic DNS and that too was no longer active.

On the plus side, Accelenet had started working due to some changes they had made in the router and I recorded speeds on SpeedTest.net that were over 12Mbps DL on the 2Mbps download package.  In addition, all the programs that couldn't transmit or receive data were working okay.

Well as i usual when having a 15 person network up with all ages of computers and operating systems connected I had a connection go out for one user. I needed access to the routers to trouble shoot and unfortunately I was sent to the Bentley-Walker site once more where it askd for information I did not have.

I sent an email off to the ISP saying I was disappointed I wasn't told they would be removing my access to my router when they changed the settings and I would like them back so I can trouble shoot some issues before I have to learn Telnet or hard reset the router.  Within five mins my access to the router was restored and for that I thank them.

However, immediately Accelenet could no longer connect and POP3, and Windows Live no longer worked again.  When i thanked the tech guy for restoring my access so quickly and told him of the connection issue he replied that Accelenet would not work with my router and to please turn it off.

Yet unless my perception of reality is skewed I am very sure that the status of Accelenet was green.  In addition, I saw the fastest speed on my network EVER and took three screen shots of the speedtest results at three different times each showing between 2-6 times what my system should max out at and even confirmed this high rate on other testing sites.  And I wasn't even the sole person on my connection when performing these tests.

If you are still with me, my question is, what are the settings needed to get Accelenet working with turbo1.bentleywalker.com server again?  Despite what my ISP said, I know it's possible because I saw it with my own eyes.  I feel like they just don't want me to know how they did it, perhaps because a password is required.  Has anyone else noticed this same issue with POP3, FTP or IM's not working when web browsers work just fine?

Thanks for any help.
Tim

Whom ever read this and got my system working again I thank you, I really need to have access to my router.  I don't want to have to hack my own hardware just so I can administrate users, add delete.  Please send me an email on how I can connect to my router WITH my network working as intended.  Thank you.

Tim,

If you temporarily disable the Accelenet software on your workstation then you should have no difficulty in accessing the internal configuration of your router. To do this, simply "right click" on the Accelenet icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and select "disable". This will prevent your particular station from being redirected.

Once you have completed your work within the router you can go ahead and re-enable the Accelenet software.

If you are still experiencing difficulties with your connection in any way, then please raise a trouble ticket via our ticketing system and we will assist your further with any matters of concern.

Daniel Kennard

Not a problem at all Tim - I'm glad to hear that it worked out well for you.

Feel free to get in touch if you experience any further difficulties.

Regards,
Daniel.
