I have iDirect EVO X3. Can somebody explain the following command supported by EVO X3. A sample output of the command is also given...

> hookstatus
Usage: hookstatus [protocol*] | interface

Just guessing; but you ask for any ideas  ..

I believe that this may refer to very basic "hook" input/output software subroutines that may used to give direct access to Ethernet packets.  Raw packets may be output directly and incoming and outgoing packets may be examined or processed.

Useful for debugging, testing, firewall filtering, security, network monitoring.

I suspect that hookstatus command will tell you if a hook has been added to a particular interface/protocol.

The use of "hook" software is abnormal. Ethernet traffic is normally processed via higher level socket interfaces.

If someone from iDirect knows better, please say..
