Title: Step by Step Procedure of X3 Recovery Post by Malachy on Jun 15th, 2011 at 5:12pm
Hello,
I am stuck with the procedure of recovering my X3 Modem especially when using the Recovery procedure for Infinity modems and Line cards. I somehow get lost while loading the image files and the new option file. Can someone out there give me the step to step procedure? I have a console, image files and good opt file. Regards, Malachy Ekal |

You need to start by determining what is wrong and which components need to be replaced. To do this you need to connect your laptop to the console port using a serial console cable and watch the boot process from power on until the Falcon process loads. If the modem does not pass the Redboot step then you most probably need to reload the complete linux image. This is not a simple thing to do. If the falcon process does not start then you need to reinstall the cumulative update and package file matching the version running on the hub and matching the version of options file you have received. If you cannot connect to the modem through iSite because the LAN port has not been configured yet, etc. you may need to resolve that issue first. Finally, if the modem continually reboots, the Falcon process appears to crash or you cannot gain IP connectivity through the LAN port start by replacing the options file with a known good version that matches the software installed on the modem. good luck |

I have a similar problem with my iDirect 3000 Series. When I connected by console port (i.e., Hyperterminal), only RedBoot> is appeared and it's not loaded any OS. Also, there is not any image file for installing the Linux on it.
I can set IP address in RedBoot and it was done. Nevertheless, I cannot connect with LAN port by iSite and iNfinity. Some commands and its responses are listed below: RedBoot> version RedBoot(tm) bootstrap and debug environment [ROM] release, version "iDirect 1.1" - built 16:16:40, Apr 29 2005 Platform: iDirect iDS Platform (XScale) Copyright (C) 2004, 2005 iDirect Technologies, Inc. It appears as if you have deleted the linux image. The only way to recover this is for your hub operator to provide you with a zimage file. If they can provide you with this they should also be able to provide you with the recovery procedure. |
