Title: LNBF faulty
Post by tearepa on Sep 21st, 2011 at 12:40am
I just replaced an LNBF (linear Ku cheap DRO) because it was displaying a constant waveform on the spec an. graph, one that wouldn't change when I moved the dish even when it looked into the ground. Weather fine, no sun-outs, maybe it was dropped, excess Volts? but I'd like to know what causes this or why it shows this anomoly? The exact replacement is up and working.

I stand corrected, sun-outages over the weekend. But what happens to the lnb?

Sun noise does not cause permanent damage to the LNB. It just causes very severe interference for a few minutes, each day, around the spring and autumn equinoxes, when the sun passes behind the satellite.

The LNB might have failed due to being dropped, causing the DRO pellet come loose.

Best regards, Eric.

Kindly let me know? Are u using Idirect antenna pointing to track? If yes. Then make sure u use the same subnet as that of ur option file. I ve had the same issue once. The pointing screen was just less than 2volts.

No this is just a cheap LNBF, no iDirect equipment at all, I know what your talking about there I've suffered the same symptoms in iSite. This problem was the occurance of a static sine wave on a Rover Meter graph whilst the LNBF underperforming and way off target, I guess it's still amplifying the noise? I don't know enough about it to speculate further.(NB The owner says it wasn't dropped).

check your LNBF with spectrum Analyzer.
Compare the receive level with the new LNBF.
If the level of old LNBF is drop. try to increase the level with line amp.

thanks.
