Title: HX 200 sQF DROP
Post by kyra on Oct 10th, 2011 at 11:39am
Dear All

I would like to know if anyone exprienced SQF drop when when we enable transmit. if we unplugged TX cable we got SQF arround 83 but after we enable or plug TX cable SQF drop to 34-45. we tried to swap with another working LNB+BUC and IDU but theresult still same. It is possible dish problem?

If your LNB is on a side arm, is your transmit reject filter missing between the LNB and the OMT ?.  Spurious power from the transmit bursts will overload the LNB input and possibly damage it. This would cause brief drops in SQF  whenever the BUC transmits.

It is possible that the outer braid sheaths of the two cables are not connected up properly?. If the BUC DC power supply returns via the LNB cable sheath you get very peculiar effects. This might cause a steady lower level SQF plus deeper drops whenever the BUC transmits.

If the DC power supply module is faulty, or the wrong part (i.e. not high enough watts) then when the BUC is powered on, the volts may drop to the modem and everything will deteriorate. The power module may overheat. Are you using an unusual higher power BUC ?

Power off at the AC mains wall switch before working on the coax cables. Leave the power supply module connected to the modem all of the time.

Best regards, Eric.
