Here is another satellite with Ka band bandwidth over Africa.
https://www.amos-spacecom.com/ka-band-africa/ AMOS 17 has 4 Ka band spot beams which may be rented and pointed wherever to cover small areas with high downlink power and high uplink sensitivity. More than 1 GHz bandwidth per beam! I'm not sure about Ka band beam connectivity. Africa spot beam to Africa spot beam is probable but cross-connect to and from the European and Israel spots may also be possible. Does anyone have a frequncy plan or information about transponder interconnectivity?. Best regards, Eric. |

Hi Eric,
Amos 17 is a HTS so the traditional division to transponders is less relevant, as they can manage the spectrum divided to much narrower channels. As far as I know, channels can be managed more or less separately, allowing as well cross connect to other beams and frequency bands. But I am not sure their Ka is meant to provide service to Africa, I think it is supposed to cover the East Mediterranean area. But I'm really not sure about it. |
