One-Web runs out of money.

One-Web was an intended 720 satellites, low earth orbit (LEO) system at 1200km height, designed to meet the needs of mobile customers (vehicle, aircraft and maritime) and fixed customers in remote locations away from the terrestrial infrastructure (cable, phone lines and mobile phone). A LEO system like OneWeb, with highly inclined 87.4 deg orbit, would also have provided coverage in the arctic regions.

It was a spectacular proposal by Greg Wyler, who managed to borrow a vast number of dollars from investors to fund the investment.

The money was spent building and launching the One-Web satellites. Some money was probably also spent on ground teleports and design and development of user antennas. I guess phased arrays featured in the developments and well as conventional motorised reflector antennas with tracking.

There are 74 OneWeb satellites in orbit so far, with the last batch of 34 being launched 21st March 2020 from Baikonur in Kazakhstan.

It now seems that the lenders have stopped the money flow. I don't know what will happen now.
