hi all...

i have many sites on location that now abundant ICE thir the modems have lost conction do u have any solution ....

Ice on the modem? Do you mean accumulation on the refector?

ICE (snow) on the Dish mike not on modem, we r in winter and we have a many snowstorm..

i see u r the best in this forum, my quastion is so clear, how can i fixer the issue of snow on the dish we lost RX signal when a snow fall on the dish and that is very widespread in Europ&US but not in Mid east, so we have no idea how can we fixed that? how can i cover the dish? what kind of cover? plz i need clear and full answer if u have ...

The locations where you have snow and ice concerns - are they manned or unmanned?

Snow or slush is always a problem this time of year (northern hemi).

Greg asked a good question: are these sites manned or unmanned?

The only recommendation I have for you is to tell the customers to clean off the dish periodically. If you have a good HNO, he can normally diagnose snow or ice accumulation with iMonitor by watching for sloping/falling Downstream SNR (upstream SNR will be climbing)

What I normally do, is run a Network Data Snapshot on the entire network and keep an eye on downstream and upstream SNRs. Once you get accumulation on the aperture the downstream SNR falls off gradually but you normally have enough time to call the site and tell them to clean off their antenna.

If you dont have access to iMonitor, you just have to tell the site that if it is snowing and they want to continue drawing services, then they better get up out of the chair and go clean off that dish! :)

This page refers to antennas having heating elements incorporated at the time of purchase and shows some examples.

If you have an existing antenna with snow/ice problems maybe consider using attached electrical heaters, infra-red lamp, ducted warm air etc.
