Hi all ,
Can any one please  help me with hook up my iDirect 3000 SAT router to my desktop ?

My SAT router came with some special UTP cable that used to connect to my desktop fine.  I've lost that cable and now I'm using a normal CAT 5e UTP cable , but when I connect it to my desktop ethernet LAN card (D-Link) it says "acquiring IP address and nothing will happen, even the light on the ethernet card does not go on.

I've even tried to configure  static IP address according to my provider setting and no luck with this also.
The same cable works fine with my laptop.
Can any one please tell me how to fix this, or what type of UTP cables was that one ?

Thank you and regards

If you are connected directly to the modem you will need a crossover cable instead of a standard cable.

If you don't have a crossover cable you can use a small hub and 2 standard cables. Hope this helps.
