iDirect 5300/5100 series iSCPC reset issue

Hi,

we've been experiencing some strange behaviour on an iSCPC link (Infiniti 5300 series/ Infiniti 5100 series) recently:

The remote modem seems to lock up randomly for some reason.
It requires a reset of the remote device (Infiniti 5100)  to bring the link back up.

According to iDirect's TAC, this is not an issue related to the interaction between the 5300 and the 5100 series hardware.

Does anyone have an explanation for this behaviour?

Thx!

Please elaborate on "lock up."

Does it stop working all together?

You are iSCPC from iDU to iDU correct?  Not to a ULC?

Are the versions on both box's are identical?  Obviously the models are different but what about iDS?

If the software is truly the same, you might want to consider re-imaging the iDUs on both ends.  It sounds a bit extreme but your options are very limited.

Well, basically spoken, TCP traffic simply gets stuck. The only workaround in this case is to give the device a reset.
I think this could be related to a maximum TCP session issue - according to iDirect the "Session Count" shouldn't  be any higher than 500-750 parallel sessions!

Correct.

Both are running 7.1.1

None at all.

I'm trying to get confirmation from iDirect, but the 5100 supports a lot more than 750 TCP Sessions - probably on the order of 5000+ sessions, depending on what other processes are running.  That's "active" sessions.  Idle sessions which use very few resources can be even higher.
