TITLE: Director Teleport Operations DEPARTMENT: Operations
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Exempt REPORTS TO: General Director JOB CODE: LOCATION: Kos Island, Greece
GENERAL PURPOSE: The role of this position is to oversee the Engineering, Operations and Maintenance of the Earth Station, including but not limited to setting and maintaining budgets, setting policies and procedures for the site to follow, interface with customers to keep a good relationship, and manage the people on site with good leadership and direction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the Engineering, Operations and Maintenance of the Earth Station. o Oversee/Write Preventive Maintenance for the site o Oversee/Write Standard Operating Procedures for the site o Maintain/Engineer the Infrastructure of the site. o Maintain all Service Level Agreements associated with contracts using the site. Maintain superb customer support to all customers, internal and external. Forecast and maintain all Capital and P&L Budgets associated with the site. Develop and provide 24/7 Third level support for Operations. Oversee the Technical/Operational development and training of operations staff. Interface with Sales/Customers to engineer any special requirements they may need. Interview potential employees; appraise performance, reward and discipline personnel. Oversee the vendors and contractors used on the site. Oversee the personnel scheduling and payroll for the site. Maintain knowledge of IP routing, frame relay, and VoIP configuration and troubleshooting. Have advanced Knowledge of TDMA platforms, iDirect and Hughes platform Experience directing an international engineering group accountable for management of satellite systems engineering, providing least cost analysis for service offerings, equipment purchases, revenue protection and quality control. Oversight included outage/impairment analysis, level of service monitoring, insuring new services and systems operate at required levels compliant with contractual and specification requirements Must be able to meet tight timelines and thriving in a fast-paced, team oriented environment High level customer service interface/complaint call follow up RFP's, contract/SOF review & Governmental Services offer development Project management of service upgrades and satellite transponder transitions Highly analytical and accurate Should have experience with ISO certification Implementation of ITAR restricted data safeguards Other related duties as may be assigned.
NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS: This position requires heavy interaction with customers via telephone as well as other departments and vendors.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 8 years experience managing earth stations with emphasis Maintenance, RF, Video and Data communications. Strong leadership abilities and organizational skills. Good verbal and written communication skills necessary.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: PC use, telephone use. Ability to quickly define teleport and satellite related teleport problems, establish facts and draw conclusions and prepare reports.
