Xplornet and D-Link DI-604

Greetings all;

My Xplornet system was installed today and works well on the system used to test the installation. I'm attempting to make use of my D-Link 604 so my two other computers can share access and I'm failing.

I've followed the instructions for configuring a cable modem on the D-Link site several times. I don't get the public IP address listed and the DHCP renewal fails every time.

Any suggestions or links? Thank you.

I've resolved this issue, although I'm not sure what I might have done differently. However, just in case this provides any insight for anyone else I;

- unplugged the satellite modem
- unplugged the router
- shut down the three computers
- waited for a few minutes
- plugged in the satellite modem
- waited for the receive light to stay on
- plugged in the router
- waited for a few minutes
- turned on computers one by one
- all was well, everything autodetected
(one XP, and two 98SE)

Right On Bill...I was going to suggest this in some fashion to you as I have once had that issue too. Anyhow, I couldn't wait to FINALLY install a router to my Ka Band service after living in dial-up hell on my farm for years!

It's wonderful now....streaming music etc...Awesome!

A bit of further update. I have narrowed the problem down to the DI-604. Although I haven't tested this thoroughly, it seems it needs to be unplugged for at least five minutes before powering up again. I have had other issues with this router such as it defaulting to the firmware upgrade page after having been unplugged. While it works fine when it is on, there seems to be some issues when it is unplugged. (latest firmware installed)
