Are there any known uses for the DW4000 Two-Way dish or modem?  I would like to know.  Thank you.

The modem is proprietary, but you can retrofit the dish for satellite TV

Is there a modem out there,  to use the two-way,  to monitor satellite signals or frequencies out there?  kinda like on 'Contact'... I hate to see my 900$ paperweight (40-50lbs) go to waste.

You should be able to use the antenna to try out some of the FTA channels. You will need a IRD that uses the standard 13 vdc for Vert Pol, and 18 vdc for Horz Pol.  Go here to check out some of the stuff that is available:  https://www.lyngsat.com/ia5.html

Any of the FTA stuff on the KU part of this bird should be available.

Try and get a cheap second hand spectrum analyser with an L band input.  You can then use the dish to observe the frequency spectrums of many satellites.

You are unlikely to find aliens.  Estimate the possible range using https://www.satsig.net/seticalc.htm and input your dish size and frequency as the receiver.  Perhaps your spectrum analyser may have 100 Hz bandwidth.

Try https://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ if you want to seriously search for aliens with a larger dish and narrower bandwidth.  I have done this for years without success so far.  I am also searching for Mersene primes.

Best regards, Eric.
