Good Morning to all,
I'm suprised this discussion topic is not more popular. I have been in the 5.8 & 2.4 Ghz wireless internet arena for the last 6 years. The technolodgy is amazing and when installed correctly is very reliable. I also believe that this tech. or something very similar is the wave of the future. I would be interested to know what equipment people on this forum have experience with. I have used equipment from Adaptive Broadband which is now excellent or something like that, Breazecom, Motorola Canopy, RWV's from Demarctech... ect. With imagination, skill, and proper planning, this tech. can extend one Satellite with the proper upload and download speeds (and contention rate) to potentially hundreds of customers. I would be interested to hear what people have done. Lets get this discussion board running, put our heads together and come up with some good ideas. Present problems, and solutions. Well that is all from me.

I'm doing medical transcription using skycasters - 4 watt buc - 1.2 m
I'm getting speeds of 19 kpbs instead of 512 have to use my company's vpn and they say I'm getting only so many slots per frame???? but it's bad. Please help. Pam Clark

This isn't really the right location for this particular discussion, but that's OK...

It will provide an overview of the technical issues that are creating your slow performance.

Is your VPN software on your PC or do you use a VPN appliance?

Possible solutions -

1. See if your IT department can or will support an SSL-VNP as this will work better.

2. See if they can switch you from VPN software on your PC to a VPN appliance. You can then have Skycasters host the appliance in their teleport data center. That will eliminate the latency problem on the satellite link, which is the ultimate cause of the VPN limitations. Skycasters knows how to do this.

Hi,
I am happy to read about your post, I am trying to achieve an integration with my vsat and the radio i installed for a customer. Because I am not too conversant with radio communications.
My problem now is that I don't know how to integrate my VSAT with my radio ie my radio access point and the receiver is installed and the VSAT is also installed ,but I don't know how to integrate both the radio and the VSAT together. The radio is broadcasting with each other but how do i make the radio carry internet is the problem.
U can use analogy IP's as an example to try and explain it to me

Your VSAT modem probably provides a10/100 10BaseT RJ45 Ethernet interface. Your wireless access point should also have a similar Ethernet port. Your modem and the Access Point should both be connected to a hub, switch or router using standard 10BaseT cables.

The VSAT connects back to a teleport that is in turn connected to the Internet. Internet traffic flows over the satellite link through the satellite modem into the hub, switch or router, and then into your access point where it is distributed to wireless users.

It would probably help to have some specifics about what VSAT service you are using and what kind of wireless gear you are using.
