Dish Pointing for lower elevation angle

Hi,

I am trying to install a Prodelin 2.4 m offset dish (22.6 Degree,Doha,NSS6). The look angle for satellites at 114 E and 33 E.

I could not get good signal as the dish in the above elevation is touching the ground. Is there any way to install this feed assembly to get the good signal. Is it going to help if I put the feed assembly at the top. what will be the elevation angle in that condition.

Thank you for any information which can help my installation.

Regards,
Chandra

Hi,

I'm currently installing for same satellite (NSS6) with almost same parameters. The difference is the antenna size, I'm using a 1.2M dish and I'm able to receive the signal. Please see my other post (How to direct and align dish in Saudi Arabia ? (https://www.satsig.net/topics/satsig-topic-num=1160741995.htm)

Regards.

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

The information is for standard offset antenna installation.
In my case, I can not install this dish in normal standard way due to the height of the antenna from the ground level.

Bottom portion of the antenna will touch the ground at 0 Degree elevation itself. I may have to mount the antenna feed assembly upside down.

Can any one inform what will be the elevation angle when the feed mount put on the top.

Any help will be useful.

Regards.

Set the dish support frame normally so that the front face is exactly vertical and read the scale.  That is the beam elevation angle now (say 30 deg) and also the offset angle

Remount the dish upside down.  The front face is still vertical. The beam is now pointed downwards into the ground at -30 deg elevation.   Note the scale has not moved and still reads 30.

Tip the top of the dish backwards by 30 deg and the beam elevation angle will now be zero (aimed level at the horizon).

If your required beam elevation angle is 22.6 deg then tip it back a further 22.6 deg.

The 30 deg above is just an example number.  I don't know the offset angle for your dish.  Read the manual or contact the supplier if there is no scale.

Best regards, Eric.
