LinkStar to iDirect on Hellassat2

Hello all ..

I am transffering from linkstar modem to Idirect Modem on Hellasat2 ..

I faced one major problem that when I replaced the LNB low 11.3 GHz (which linkstar working with ) with LNB low 10.0 GHz (which Idirect should be working with ) I lost the signal on my spectrum analyzer and even when I connect the modem the RX led doesnt lock up ...

If any one know anyting about this ??

The Dish have to be pointed to Hellas Sat 2 Satellite @ 39.0°E
Beacon Frequency Ku Band 11.4515 GHz Circular (RH)
RX Vertical – TX Horizontal

what does they mean by the Circular (RH) ??

Hi there,

If everything is same with the previous situation and you only changed the LNB and not able to get signal then most probably the LNB has a problem. If you use spectrum analyzer you should see something at least LNB noise, if you use signal meter, DVB analyzer like Satlook you should try to change l.o frequency on the device as well.

Regarding to beacon frequency, the handbook of Hellassat-2 says:

A Ku- band beacon generator on board of the satellite provides a signal to a dedicated global
horn antenna. The Ku-band beacon transmits a single right hand circular polarized
unmodulated frequency of 11.4515 GHz with a maximum EIRP of 12 dBW within the whole
visible area from the satellite. A 3 dB loss of power level is expected if linear polarization
reception system is used by the station. This beacon is a two for one redundant unit and is
used by the earth stations operators to track the Hellas-Sat 2 satellite.

Therefore you can see the beacon on the given frequency on both polarisations (H/V).
