New Yahoo Group for WildBlue & Starband users

A new email discussion list exists for Starband and WildBlue users. It's a
moderated (so no spam) Yahoo group. The benefit is Starband and WildBlue
users (current, past, future) can discuss among each other--and Starband
users can access the list when they're not on a Starband satellite.

Again, the intent is to get Starband users talking with WildBlue
users--something not likely on this forum since it's specifically identified
as for WildBlue.

Please check it out, and let your Starband and WildBlue friends know about
it as well.

If enough people join, hopefully the questions many people have asked about
how SB and WB services compare and such can be addressed.

There is no area of this forum dedicated specifically to Starband, simply because the number of Starband users posting to the Satellite Internet/Americas area was so small. When Wildblue and XploreNet users began to visit the Satellite Internet/Americas area, Eric started a new board for them. If/when Starband members were to participate in similar numbers, it's not unreasonable to assume Eric would do the same for them.

In the mean time, i question the value of Starband customers comparing notes with Wildblue customers. Except for the fact that they both use a satellite dish and coaxial cables, there's actually very little in common. Starband is actually considerably older technology as well. I'm afraid Ku-band users would think they should get Ka-band performance, and/or vice versa. Unfortunately, never the twain shall meet.
