I am trying to set up my dish using ids version 8.0.2.1. I am in Iraq tryin to use Intelsat 901 18W. It says my elevation should be 14 deg but with the standard offset of 17 deg for a 1.2m dish it should be -3 deg. My dish is different from other peoples out here on base. Most have with the feedhorn directly facing the dish where as I have the extra reflector. I don't know if this might be causing more issues but when i use the antenna alignment software in iSite I get nothing on the screen it is just blank. I was wondering if anybody knows if maybe there is a problem with the software on this version or maybe because of the extra reflector I have to adjust downwards more.

The calculated 14 deg beam elevation angle is about right, so your software looks good. See also:

Make sure you preset the polarisation angle correctly. The nominal starting position is as told to you by the hub (horizontal or vertical). For example, nominal horizontal polarisation is when the broad faces of the LNB waveguide are on either side.

Then turn the feed polarisation as required, positive is clockwise while facing towards the satellite, regardless of whether you have single or dual optic antenna.

The elevation angle will be a line from the top of the subreflector to the under edge of the main dish. Put a long thin strip of wood along this line and measure the slope if you have an inclinometer. See how to make an inclinometer.

If you don't find the satellite on the first broad sweep in azimuth alter the elevation angle in 1 deg steps and repeat the sideways sweeping as many times as necessary.

The offset angle of the dish varies from one manufacturer to another and also from one model number to another. There is no standard number.

Your modem needs to be correctly programmed if it to lock on to and recognise the wanted carrier.
