C-band VSAT wanted in Tanzania

Hello,

I'm investigating options for a 10 seat internet cafe in southern Tanzania. My first impression is that we'll need 1024kbps down and maybe 256kbps up with a 10:1 share. Due to heavy rains several months out of the year we're looking at c-band. The iDirect system seems very nice, but we're not locked in to anything at this point.

I'm interested in hearing about other people's recommendations and also from providers.

If you are a provider, please provide comprehensive price information including setup fees, contract periods and equipment costs. Also what satellite you use, where your teleport is and what your links are, equipment installation requirements, if you require we buy the equipment from you, details of any SLA, historical uptime information if available, and any other information you have to offer.

If you are a customer, I'd love to hear about your experiences with your provider and vsat in general.

Call me on +254722693736. I am currently in Kenya setting up a link for iDirect c-band for one of our customer same contention as you want We have both c-band and Ku band. Alternately i can send you all details on email.

hello,

I've read this post with interest, because I'm also thinking about internet-access for one (max. 2 computers) in rural southern tanzania. Not that big (max. 256 or 512kbps down), but I don't know if it's payable for my small budget.
I know c-band-equipment is about 3000US$. But I really don't know about prices for
- monthly subscription or
- volume-based-prepaid (my favorite)
please can you tell me about average prices (e.g. per Gigabyte), so that I will know if that is payable for me and my small budget.
