Simple question about connectivity.

Hello, great forum here. I am a neophyte in the field of satellite internet. I have only really experienced it because I am now connecting via satellite using a laptop for my job.

I have been wondering about something for a while now. I connect with T-mobile using an EDGE/GPRS connection. Why is it that some internet sites can only be connected to intermittently and if I can connect to one site on a given day I can not connect to another? If one is available the other most certainly is not. It don't see how it can be a bandwidth restriction. This does not apply to all sites some I can visit everyday without fail. Are certain sites set up on a schedule of some sort? I've never experiened this using dail up or broadband.

Thank you.

I believe the simple answer is that you don't HAVE a satellite connection. Your laptop is apparently connecting with T-Mobile via cell tower. Intermittent connectivity is consistent with incomplete cell tower coverage.

Hot spots = connectivity.
Nulls = no connection.
Somewhere in between = intermittent connections.

OK thanks for the info.

I get plenty of signal it's always three or four bars.

I'm still curious as to why when one site is available another site is not and vice versa. For example on days when I can log into a movie forum I can not log into YouTube and likewise when YouTube is available the movie site is not. It's weird. It must be an issue with T-Mobile as an ISP.
