Turks & Caicos Direct TV Trouble

I have scanned the forum and not found an answer and I apologize upfront if this is too "low level".

We have used Direct TV for 8 years (we have an address in the USA) - 6ft dish etc. However over the last 18 months we have been dropping channels - BBC America, HBO Channels, MAX, and then most recently CBS, ESPN and finally last week NBC....The signal is fine for all 100+(?) channels - just these ?

Are these channels being moved off satellites that cover the Caribbean?

On another note - how can we go HD - many people would be interested?

Our original installer is no longer in business !!

We are pleased to help you, but you may find more help if you also posed this problem in a satellite television forum.

I suggest you try and work out what satellite orbit position it is that your are aimed at now. It will help if you write down what channels you can see now and what are the frequencies and symbol rates.

Go to https://www.lyngsat.com/america.html and try to identify which satellite you are aimed at. Once your written list correlates with the carriers listed in lyngsat you will know what satellite you are aimed at.

Then consider the 'missing' programs. If they are not in the list then maybe they have been ceased. If the 'missing' programs are still listed consider why they are not being received. Are they all at the higher end on the L band frequency range? If so, this suggests moisture in the cable problem. Are all the 'missing' programs on one polarisation. If so then maybe a voltage drop problem in the cable or fauly LNB. Are all the 'missing' programs in Ku hi band or Ku low band? Is so this suggests a 22kHz tone problem or faulty LNB. Are all the missing programs on one satellite ? If so then this satellite may have a beam coverage no longer pointed at Turks & Caicos.

A local satellite TV shop is recommended for advice.
