Hi,
Good idea, not easy in practice to find a benchmark for this as speed is such a moving target.
When I used to develop web sites something was too slow if the viewer of a page thought it was slow.
So the actual speed of a connection is not directly related to what works well on it.
Having said all that, I personally use https://www.speedtest.net/ as a heavyweight test page and speedtest and https://www.broadband.org/speed_test.html as the lightweight, results are similar, but watching how quickly each site loads gives me an idea if the user is going to experience speeds slower than they find comfortable to use.

Don't forget the latency though, this affects the perceived download speed in that a page takes 800 ms on average to even think about downloading, but then its the speed that finishes the job and loads the page.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I tend to use speedtest.net. Also I use www.testmy.net as it gives you the ability to send your results to your ISP.
