Sun Conjunction Time Again

Just a reminder, the sun interference cycle will be starting soon. Sun interference calculators are available online and for download, I personally like this one:

Intelsat sun outage calculator.

Hint: even though the effects diminish as dish diameter increases, sun interference affects your NOC too. After you obtain the date/time predictions for interference at your location, replace your lat/lon with those of your NOC (but keep the same time zone). Don't know their antenna sizes, but I'm pretty sure they don't have anything less than 3 meters.

Sun outage calculator

Greg, I have found a good link to a Sun outage calculator

You need to input the satellite (or orbit position location) of your antenna (latitude and longitude) diameter and frequency band.  The calculator works out the dates and times when the sun is in the antenna beam.

I would be interested in feedback. If you calculate for your site and then observe carefully the times of noise increase and decrease we will be able to evaluate the accuracy of the calculator.

Best regards, Forum admin.

Here is another one:

from China Satellite Communications Co Ltd

and another:

from GlobalTT

Here is an explanation, in this forum, with picture, about how sun outages occur and how then affect satellite communications.
