Help Required regarding iDirect VSAT HUBs

Hi
I am new to this forum currently we started our VSAT business in Pakistan. we got a project in which we have to provide connectivity to 28 sites with a centralised system. please guide me which iDirect HUB is suitable for this solution . and any suggestions for this project ?

There are several different levels of iDirect hub - see this link https://www.idirect.net/cs/products/hubs/overview and then contact iDirect for advice.

If you want a strictly star network for internet access consider a DVB-S2/RCS system like Spacebridge

If you want both mesh and star, then iDirect can do it but you need to make this known to the sales person at iDirect at the outset so the equipment suggested is suitable. Think about your requirements, if any, for voice calls between your remotes.

Comtech with Vipersat CDM570L modems https://www.comtechefdata.com/products.asp can also do a good job with moderate sized business networks with complex mesh and star networking with voice calls, file transfers etc.

In all cases, don't underestimate the staffing, skills and training required to manage the network.

I have not been reading these forums for a while so please excuse the outdated response on this. Since this is a iDirect forum I will give an iDirect reply:

Sizing an iDirect Hub depends on many factors. If you have not done so yet, I strongly suggest you get in contact with an iDirect sales representative that will in turn put you into contact with a system engineer to size the network properly.

Useful information to have handy will be:
Earth station and remote antennas & BUC sizes
Link Budget Analysis – Maximum achievable upstream carrier size
Service levels required e.g. 1:2 or 1:3 up/down ratios
Contention ratios considered
Number of remotes
Traffic types: Voice, Business applications, Internet etc..

iDirect offers a wide range of options, 2 come to mind for the number of sites you indicate. To utilize your own earth station and provide internet backhaul the most cost effective option is a private hub which allows a maximum of 30 simultaneous remotes (upgrade required as the base unit allows only 15 simultaneous users). The list price with the 30 remote upgrade is about $75,000. Another option would be to set up a VNO, Virtual Network Operator, which would allow a private network operated on an existing hub owners equipment. Prices for this vary but the up front cost will likely be less.
