2. Have you confirmed that your BSP and image are good? 3. Please talk me thru how you are cutting and pasting. 4. What are you using Hyperterm? Teraterm? Inability to ping eth0 is naturally due to your opt being corrupt or unusable. |

[OPTIONS_FILE] modem_sn = 73636 modem_type = Remote modem_hardware = 3100 did = 5054372 generated_by = NMS version $Name: NetModem-7_1_1 $ is_mesh = 0 disable_options_flash_command = 0 I haven´t confirm that BSPO and image are good. Hyperterminal Private edition Now I cannot gain acces to the router at all, the hyperterm pops a blank screen and the router has the power and status ligths solid green. The hyper says that it is connected but there´s nothing on the screen !!!! I have a copy of the remote-7_1_1.pkg, cumulative_update-7_1_1.pkg and R73636.opt Is there a way that I could get the router back to life? Thanks for your support |

I have been having the exact same problem as YAMA09. We origionally bought a batch of modems with firmware 8.0.2.5 loaded on and was having problems downgrading to 7.1.1. That is no longer the issue. I now have the same error : Fatal Error - Could not open device "/dev/fpga-nx": 2 No such file or directory Unable to reload layers (tx/rx1) I have loaded and reloaded the 7.1.1 firmware and have been successful in this process. The same goes for the option file. What makes me think that the option file is ok from my provider is that I used an option from another modem and edited it in notepad making sure the modem number and like were all the same. Also, if there is a problem with the option, it might report the unit of not being a "boot". I have been emailing tac support and they suggested running the following in the /dev folder: mkdir fpga-nx chmod 440 fpga-nx This then changes the error to: Fatal Error - Could not open device "/dev/fpga-nx": 21 Is a directory. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Regards GZ |

1. Does Falcon start? If so, can you telnet to the process? I am thinking you are not able to. 2. How are you able to confirm that the bsp and software packages installed properly? When you installed those packages, how did you negotiate it? Manual load with WinSCP or did you use iSite TFTP? I recommend against editing opt's (too much room for error in that config file). How are you punching that opt into the box? CAT'ing it in? At first glance (of that boot up) it appears there is a problem with the software. Specifically the BSP and/or Pkg. I am sure you realize that by now and I am stating the obvious. |

Falcon does indeed start. The exact same load up sequence is what YAMA09 posted. I am able to telnet to the remote but instead of the usual modem number in the brackets, it is saying Error Stack. What process are you asking me to telnet to? The packages say installed successfully in the HyperTerminal and when i go to /usr/sbin and run falcon --version, it comes back saying version 7_1_1. Is that enough? And I used TFTP to load it as i do not have access via WinSCP or PuTTy. As for the editing opt's, i have made sure i havent left anything else out. And you remember when i said we got a batch of these modems? I am using and editing the same option file for this modem as i have for the ones i have already recovered. I am CATing it yes. I see what you are saying. It doesnt look good and may result in an RMA. Any further assistance would be greatly appreciated! Regards GZ |
