That's what i got when trying sshed to my 3100 idirect ?why

i'm using putty.

Have you truned on the ssh daemon?  If no, then you need to get on console of that 3100 and at the linux prompt (#) type: service sshd start

Once sshd start, you should be able to attach with putty....but as bod pointed out, having to enable the daemon on console more than likely defeats the purpose. 

Are you attaching to this modem over the link or is it in your possession?

sshd is strated cause i got login as prompt when connecting to my modem.

after  i entered the user name i got this error

So, you ARE in fact promted for a log-in? 

If so, are you certain you have the right credentials?

I'm sure .it's "root","iDirect".

I would not assume that.  Confirm it thru local access (on the box) to be certain.  Are you co-located with the unit?  If so, console in and attempt to authenticate/log-in.
