List,

Some hubs in Ku  use high band  lnbs and others Low band lnbs. What  Determines this ? Satellite or Hub ?

The downlink carrier frequency from the satellite, and your desired L band frequency, determines the LNB Local Oscillator frequency required.

If your hub needs to receive over the full Ku band range use a low gain, wide band, LNA followed by a 2-way or 4-way Ku band splitter and then connect whatever LNBs and downconverters as necessary.  Hub dishes tend to be very large so be careful to keep power levels within the linear range of the output stage amplifiers to avoid intermodulation.  In other words, design your receive system, don't just put parts together willy-nilly.

Best regards, Eric.
