Hi,
I use an email tracking program and today I got a notification that one of my emails was opened "from USA". When the person is supposedly in Europe. However, it ALSO said "satellite provider".Is it possible that they could have still been in Europe? I'm so confused. Please help!
Thanks!

You are probably trying to guess the physical location of the source of the email based on its origin IP address.

Your results will only be as accurate as the IP address/physical location database you are using.

If a block of say 256 IP addresses are allocated to a company with HQ in USA and that company then assigns those IP addresses to land, sea or air mobile and transportable VSATs that may be anywhere, then you will get the wrong answer from your database.  A satellite communications company in the US may have sites in Afganistan, Iraq, Europe and Africa, airborne over the Atlantic or on board ship off the coast of Brazil, all with IP addresses coming from a USA block of IP addresses.

Best regards, Eric.
