How much are you paying Eutelsat for the satellite transponder bandwidth per MHz per month ?

What modulation/coding are you using ?

I don't understand how the prices you quote appear to be far lower then the cost of the satellite capacity ?

If you quote prices for "Totally Unlimited Packages" that appear to be only approx 6 - 12% of the cost of providing the service then please provide full technical and financial explanation.

Sorry, the reason is that companies using words like "Unlimited" for what are obviously shared systems, are then banned from this forum. Postings that mislead me or visitors are deleted as spam.

Visitors should appreciate that all very low cost satellite internet access systems involve multiple customers sharing the same satellite capacity and that an "up to 1.5 Mbit/s " service might be shared with 50 - 100 other customers, all accessing the same total satellite capacity. This is perfectly normal and many low useage customers will be entirely happy with a service that offers "up to 1.5 Mbt/s" but has a long term average bit rate limitation of say 4 kbit/s up and 15kbit/s down. Note: 5 Gbytes per month allowance = 15 kbit/s average. Always ask for the "Fair Access Policy (FAP)" that is applicable, so that your are not disappointed if your were expecting to be able to upload or download large data quantities such as large files, videos, audio etc. It is important not to raise potential customer expectations in excess of what the service will actually provide.

Sorry to disagree, but if a service is liable to be degraded to 50% of its claimed bit rate due to congestion in busy periods then it is clearly not "unlimited".

You are welcome to post your prices again as long as you make it clear that the service is not unlimited but is limited by the fact that other users, sharing the same capacity, may be active simultaneously and there is no fair access policy in place.

The definition of CIR (committed information rate) is that at any given time, the bandwidth should not fall below the CIR figure. The provider guarantees that the connection will always support the CIR rate. The prices for such dedicated services are typically 10 - 100 times more than the price for a shared access service. Dedicated service is appropriate for VSAT customers with large numbers of PC in their LAN and with VoIP, video, audio, cell phone backbone etc.

If you have 2 Mbit/s capacity and multiple sharing customers, the total of the CIRs must add up to no more than 2 Mbit/s. So, if you have ten customers, each being told CIR=1 Mbit/s then those are false claims and misleading advertising. You should set the CIR for each customer to say 200kbit/s or less, if all are paying equally.

If you set a CIR for each customer then this is your fair access policy, together with any burstable upper bit rate (excess information rate EIR) as may be possible. If customers pay different amounts then it would be fair to give them different CIR allowances.

If you sell 1 Mbit/s VPN with the description "totally unlimited" then the customer must be guaranteed 1 Mbit/s all of the time and able to send that data rate continuously all of the time via their VPN.

You need to explain your SkyDSL VPN service here so that I and everyone else can understand how it works, what it offers and for what price. The SkyDSL web site only talks about shared user type services. Can you explain, for example, modulation and coding, where does the VPN encapsulation start and finish IP addresses, encryption of the VPN, up link and downlink bit rates, dish sizes, BUC powers, freq band, teleport hub location and owner, beam coverage etc.

Note that any offering which is based on several customers sharing the same satellite resource with the possibility of reduced bit rate during busy congested periods must not be described using words like "unlimited" or "dedicated" as this is misleading to naïve visitors to this forum. Such postings are regarded as spam and deleted. "Unlimited", "totally unlimited" or "dedicated" services are normally 10 to 100 times the price of shared services, according to the number of other customers sharing. A service with CIR must provide that minimum bit rate all of the time.

The ideal posting by a company offering service comprises 90% text of an educational/descriptive nature and only 10% sales pitch. Note that superlative words, like best, fastest, ******** are also banned words in this forum.

The objective is to provide helpful information for visitors.
