I have the HN7000, but the GUI is almost identical to that of the HX50. Given that modem sync is dependent upon network timing, the time displayed by the modem is obtained over the satellite from the NOC. No user input.
Nor do I have any input capability to define a user log-in/password. As you seem already to have discovered, all that's required is to direct a browser to the LAN1 IP address. In my case 192.168.0.1 gets me to the top level menu. You then drill down from there, most often to https://192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html
If the HX50 does in fact have the capabilities about which you enquire, I apologize in advance.
