Option Files are nothing more than a configuration file derived from the NMS that manages the network. Be advised, there are some subtle changes to the options files in the various iDS/iDX softwares. The data contained in the opt spells out everything from administrative data (Serial number, DID, IP addressing, etc) to Quality of Service configurations, as well as modulation and coding data for the radio frequency equipment (RFE).
I recommend you use an opt template from the software version you presently operate at. That is, if you intend to use it for the purposes of training, etc.
