Oracle 11g R2 over Satellite

Dear all, I need to know what parameters that must be considered in order to setup Oracle 11g R2 over start satellite links with 1100 ms latency and how to do this? thanks in advance

My network is star satellite links with almost around 1080 ms latency. I am still looking via the net but yet no answer! so if you do have whatever information, thought, just please share it!Thanks

High latency is an unavoidable feature of satellite networks due to the distance involved to and from the satellite.

I suggest doing searches of the Oracle database documentation looking for references to tuning for high latency networks or Google "tuning Oracle in high latency networks"

Minimising the fragmentation of packets is a generally recommended thing to do.

You might also contact Oracle directly and ask, also contact your satellite service provider or modem manufacturer (e.g. iDirect, ViaSat, Hughes) for advice.

in addition to Eric's explanation, i want to ask about the latency, is it really around 1080 ms? Is this connection as remote to remote on a star network? otherwise there should be a major problem.
