It’s one PoP for Gilat Satcom, and a giant leap of connectivity for Sierra Leone.

Gilat had finished setting up its new Point of Presence (PoP) facility in the West African country. A 7.3m satellite dish now links the Sierra Leone PoP to the rest of Gilat’s transcontinental satellite communications network.

With its PoP operational, Gilat Satcom can now provide high-quality Internet connectivity for Sierra Leonian ISPs and mobile operators at attractively affordable prices.

The Gilat satellite PoP is designed to be easily expanded, and it can handle a broad variety of offerings. In the near future, it will be able to provide back-up services to the high-speed fiber cable line that Gilat is laying down.

In addition, the advanced satellite broadband technology Gilat deployed at the PoP will bring a wealth of communication possibilities into the quiet but impoverished country of Sierra Leone.

“Providing high-quality Internet access through our new PoP in Sierra Leone,” said Alex Peropouliadis, Gilat Satcom’s Regional sales Director, “Gives us the opportunity to bring affordable connectivity to many more people, schools, companies and other organizations.”
