How to filter Internet traffic in the hub iDirect for customers.
Hi all.
We have an idirect hub which is connected to an Internet router and our custemers want to filter their traffic directly from the hub (video,torrent..)
Is there an equipment and how to place it in the hub?
the iDirect hub can filter the traffic but by protocol like http udp and not by url (web site)

hi,

you need to added a system between your iDirect hub and internet router like this scheme:

for the system you can use an open source solution like ipfire,ipcop.. or others not free

in the server you must have two ethernet ports, one in the same sunbet of iDirect router and the other for public address

in your iDirect router, you should route traffic of custumers tha you want to be filtred to filtering system.

i am using this solution for a custumer with 24 vsat sites and i gave him the access for internet to block web sites and see browsing history...

Regards,

OUTALEB H.

A company with web site https://www.barracuda.com/ has been suggested elsewhere. I've looked at the website but can't distinguish between all the various Security Products they offer:

Email Security: Spam Firewall, Email Security Service
Web Security: Web Filter, Web Security Service
Network Security: Firewall, NG Firewall, SSL VPN, Security Suite
Web Application Security: Web Application Firewall

May be the best thing would be to talk to them and explain what you are trying to do.

Make sure you understand what operation will entail.  It is tedious work to update long lists of blocked IP addresses and web sites every day.

Best regards, Eric.
