Hello

I operate an Internet cafe and my Internet connection is via satellite. The satellite modem is Linkstar. Recently my Internet cafe started offering Internet phone call services. So at present it offers net broswing and VoIP services.

As for the VoIP, I use Net2phone IP phone. But the quality of the VoIP is very bad especially when my LAN is busy. My customers are complaining  about the quality of the VoIP.

I have discussed this issue with my ISP and I was made to understand that the ISP does not support VoIP, but their customers can use a third party service on their network.

Please does anyone know what I should do to improve the quality of Internet call?

Thanks,

Morris

Unluckly the delay for Dstar systems is 600ms. You can improve your VOIP quality using standard 711 (but each call require about 64Kb) or using a DSAT or SKYPLEX system. If you need more informations about these systems (technical and/or commercial) please contact us at informazioni@satelliterg2.it, we are Eutelsat/Skylogic provider.

u could call your provider and ask them to pipe an ip for you so u could use it for voice.if u have 256k, u could ask them to pipe 64k out of it and that should improve your voice quality

the solution is simple. what you need in this situation is just pipeing.
what i mean by 'pipeing' is just you have to channel a particular proportion on your IP.for your phone. so anytime u lift the receiver that dedicated portion will used and your browsing still continue, but u drop the receiver it automatically switches back.when doing this that is making a call it doesnt affect tthe quality.so you have to contact your internet provider to do this for you.

thank you i hope i answered your question if done uyou can get back to me.
