Ok, so we just got direct way installed in our house.  We have 2 computers, one a desktop and one is a laptop.  Well we got a wireless connection hookup for the laptop, and the direct hookup for our desktop.  Here lies the problem.  As soon as the laptop is turned on and the person is browsing, it prevents the desktop of being able to connect to WebPages.  It might allow the desktop to browse for a total of 30 seconds every 5 minutes.  The weird thing is, the desk top is still able to stay connected to AIM, yahoo messenger and other computer supported programs, it just won't load WebPages and gives errors instead.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Oh, and if you could keep the terms simple, I know the basics of computer talk but not the depth.  Thanks again.

This may be a several days process by messaging.  Do you know anyone locally who knows how to set up a local area network ?   They may be able to fix the problem in an hour.

To start..

For each PC find out how its network interface is configured.  e.g. start, control panel, network, local area network, right click properties, select TCP/IP, properties.  Write down on paper what all the IP addresses etc. are as of now.

Read the manual for the wireless router and find out how to access its screens.

What documentation came with the Direcway regarding IP addresses, gateway, subnet mask etc.

Best regards, Eric.

Are you using a 4020, 6000 or 7000?
