Hi

I am due back in the UK next May and am starting to look for internet access for our RV (motorhome).

We have experience of Direcway in the USA, where the cost for unlimited monthly use is just $60 USD.

Are there any UK providers offering an unlimited Sat Internet service for less than £50 GBP per month ?

I am in touch with at least 10 other RVers looking for this service, and would be intersted in reselling the service if the price was right for the end user.

Thanks
Paul

We use Viasat products (Linkstar modems for the end user).

It is a matter to discuss about your suggestion on the distribution of the Satellite services.

Please tell me what is the bandwidth are you looking for?

Your answer will allow us to provide specific services in your area to the  kind clients you have already.

Hi

I would be looking for a VERY MINIMUM of 512Kbps | 128Kbps, per user.

The c/r would be a maximum of 1:15

Thanks

Why are hardware costs so expensive in the UK and Europe ?

For the sort of stuff shown on Bentley-Walker (£2200 to £3000) you can get the same stuff in the US for £1000 max.

The US providers of Hughes Net (Direcway) offer 2 packages for the motorhome user.

Pay for Hardware at $900 and Service at $60pm unlimited

or

Pay $100 per month for both the Hardware and Service

Both are on 15 month contracts.

WHY is it so expensive in Europe.

Are we not all pointing at the same sky?
Are our Satellites better than theirs?

Or is it that the UK/Europe is too greedy.

I don't know the bit rates offered for unlimited service in the US at a price of $60 per month.

Here in Europe/North Africa, I would have thought you might expect only 2kbit/s up and 8kbit/s down for $60 per month, with unlimited upload/download.

Alternatively, for same price, 20kbit/s up and 80kbit/s down with 10:1 sharing (not unlimited and with fair access policy) or 200kbit/s up and 800kbit/s down 100:1 sharing (not unlimited and with fair access policy).

Remember that any shared system must charge around $6000 per month per total Mbit/s.   $6000 per month for unlimited service per Mbit/s is expensive - but it would serve a single large local LAN community or many separate dish sites, with just one PC at each site.  Really it is just the same price. You simply get what you pay for.

I could sell you a service of say 200k up and 800k down for $6000 per month and if someone else came along wanting the same you could each have it reduced to 2:1 sharing at half the price, and so on proportionally for more users.

Best regards, Eric.

Discovery Global may provide you with 128 Kbps upstream / 512 Kbps  downstream - C/R 1:1 it means that you have a dedicated bandwidth, that can be shared among of CUG, as if you start connecting and finding new customers. As per your request, it is possible to connect your Rvers and it will be 1:10 so, you be able to pay per month by £50 GBP - £70 GBP.

the service has a lot of multiple options, that is very interesting and easy to use, then being finding for the already built network, that you have option with limited for downloads and non guaranteed service level.

If that solution will be interesting for you and helpful, just contact us for more details.

"WHY is it so expensive in Europe.

EXCELLENT point. I know many happy RVers in the US who enjoy this service and very few in the UK or Europe that are happy with what is available to them.

Someone is missing a HUGE market.
