Yes, like many I've been reading here, I'm brand new to setting up my own Sat. reception. In the UK I have used Sky for years and set up my own off-air reception of basic channels plus Freeview.

Can I set up to receive the basic 5 UK channels in the Algarve - my apartment faces south?

Do I need to buy kit in UK, including the tv, and ship it out to the Algarve? I'd rather use a local Portuguese TV and sat. kit if possible.

If yes to the above - what kit should I buy and do I need special kit to set up the dish for alignment to a named sat?

Many thanks to all who read this and can offer ideas,

Hi,
There are a number of very good websites about receiving UK television abroad and the legalities of getting Sky outside the UK. This link
https://www.astra2sat.com is one the better ones. The forum on that website is very informative  They also separate Europe into regions, and there is a section on  Portugal.
Hope this helps.
