Hi there,

We have just purchased an existing satellite dish and 3100 iDirect modem from the airport based on Christmas Island, however we do not have the password for the iSite software. I can login with root and iDirect and then type in telnet 0 to get to the iSite login prompt but no combination of either root or admin or Admin etc with iDirect or any other default password will get me in.

Is there any way around this at all? I have downloaded the updated firmware can I load this without logging into iSite and therefore overwrite the config and reset the password back to default?

Thanks in advance!
Peter

Peter, the password is part of the existing options/cofig file that is currently in the iDirect unit.  Do you have a new options file to put into your iDirect unit (an options file from your service provider?)?

If, I am pretty sure we can talk you through loading it thru linix/root.

Hopefully, the old service provider (who's config is presently in that box) didnt have it locked to his network.

Let me know if you have an options file, and have hyperterminal or terraterm on your client connected to the iDirect unit.  If you can get to root already then it sounds like you do.

We don't have a new options file as yet is there any way I can get like a factory default one or something like that?

To tell you the truth this is the first time I've worked with Satellite gear so not too familiar with how these boxes work.

I thought we would have just been able to setup the config through the iSite app itself but is that not how it works?
