I want to run a 10 Watt BUC with iDirect 3000/5000 series and as per their documentation the modems are able to give up to 5-watt, so can I use external power supply for the BUC? Thanks in advance.

Depends. If you do need an external power supply, you will also need a Bias-Tee (a kind of multiplexer). The PS is around $220 and the Bias-Tee is around $300. I know the www.isosat.net has them.

Cheers.
