Dear Mike,
I was able to extract the zimage file from the cumulative update package, please i need a step by step instruction on the procedure for the installation of the zimage file using redboot for iDirect 3100. Remember my motive is to install the linux back into the box and to enable me use the iSite again.

Dear Mike,

I am on the look-out for your mail on the procedure regarding installing zImage in infinity3000

I have a process for Evolution X3 but not sure if its the same for infinity 3000

Below is procedure if found for Evolution X3

Loading the zImage on the Remote

Redboot> prompt displays.
Redboot> load -v -r -b 0x01600000 zImage
Redboot> fis unlock Linux
Redboot> fis erase -f 0x50060000 -l 0x00100000
Redboot> fis write -b 0x01600000 -f 0x50060000 -l 0x100000

Then, I will have to

Reload the Flash by following the procedure 3, 4, and 5 of �How Do I Recover iNFINITI Remotes
and Line Cards� on establishing IP connectivity, and start SSH Daemon, reloading the Software
Package and Options file

I am not going to get into the business of instructing folks on how to reload zimage. For starters, it is unique to the iDS version for the hub you are operating. If you want to be walked thru how to load it, I suggest that you use the TAC at iDirect. They may recommend that you RMA the box, but it never hurts to ask. There is a reason that the zimage procedures are not publically shared. Quite simply - There are a lot of folks who lack the expertise to engage at that level. So, to answer your question, there wont be a PM coming. Too much room for error.
