Please provide here a picture of the W48 coverage map for 24hr service (considering the inclined orbit).

Where is the hub and who owns and operates it ?

How much is the inclination now ? How long is the satellite expected to be in service and what will be the inclination at the end of this period ?

What is an "ACM-WORKS brand Modulator" What modems does a customer need to work with this service ?

What frequency range and polarisations ?

Can you include pictures of customer antennas with suitable tracking systems that are working successfully ?

What tracking controller/actuators have you tried that work well ?

Please what is the type/model number of the antenna tracking controller and the motor drive system ?

Is the system already fully installed but not powered on, calibrated and configured ?

Is there a beacon receiver ? If so, what is the beacon frequency/polarisation it should be tuned to ? If it is on the opposite polarisation to the traffic then they may be a problem - you will need a 3 port feed.  Is an L band splitter needed ?  Is a PLL LNB required ?  Is the output of the beacon receiver compatible with the tracking controller ?

If the person coming has some previous experience of the equipment it will help a great deal.  If not, they will need to study and learn from the manuals fast. There is not much time.  Ideally you will want someone on site to follow this up as the antenna and its tracking controller may need testing and attention daily for several days till the orbit is learned and the tracking system has settled down.  Do set up the limit switches,  grease the bearings and make sure gearboxes have oil etc.

Having as much information as possible up front and preferably having set up the same system before is the key to making tracking systems work well first time.

Did your installer manage to get that site with the tracking antenna working with the W48 inclined satellite, in Iraq, by 1st May ?

I'm really pleased to see capacity on this inclined orbit satellite being put to good use.

The very low cost of the space segment capacity is attractive provided you only have a few sites. Each site will be more expensive than usual as it will need a tracking antenna with tracking receiver, tracking controller, resolvers, motors etc and someone competent to set it up.

If anyone needs a lot of capacity to one location and feels competent to give a tracking antenna a go I would urge you to give it a try.
