By forum admin, moved here.  Title was: "New Guy with Crazy Xicom TWTA Story - Need Help"
---------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, first off I am NOT in the industry. I have recently and legally ( I am in Law Enforcement) came into possession of a piece of equipment that I don't know much about. It is a Xicom Xt-150t Multi Band TWTA Amp (c-100w,ku-90w,x-140w). It is an outdoor unit that was used for military applications and has some sort of switch controller on the side installed by global satcom. Xicom talked to me about the unit and said it was a 2009 mfg and shouldn't have been used much. I got the item in a USPS Lost freight auction because a thermal imager was in the same bin...I didn't know much about this unit...neither did anyone else. Xicom quoted me the HUGE price for a new one but I know that stuff like this has a hard resale value and drops sharply etc....what would be my best course of action to try to liquidate this the fairest and easiest way possible? Ebay ? I just need some direction and don't know where or how to price out this unit or know true second hand (but in perfect working shape) value....any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Someone here may want to buy it.

...
XICOM XTD-150T Multi-Band TWTA, C/X/Ku-Band, 110/150/90W

Here is a spec sheet:
https://www.xicomtech.com/products/documents/XTD-150T%20Rev%202.pdf

Be careful who you sell it to.  It is potentially dangerous in the hands of an incompetent or irresponsible person.  In just a brief moment it can cause serious personal heating injury: blindness and burns.   It can also, if misused, cause serious interference to satellite and terrestrial communications services.  Do not power it up yourself.

If you can't sell it, do not just dump it.  The TWTA tube may incorporate beryllium, which is hazardous if broken or ground up and it gets into wounds.

These people: https://www.newerasystems.net/contact.html buy and sell a great deal of surplus earth station equipment including TWTA amplifiers. See if they are interested.

As the last resort, consider giving it back to the manufacturer for spares.

Best regards, Eric.

Anyone interested feel free to contact me, I am not going to be stingy on the price of this unit, please feel free to make an offer. I have only two others looking at it currently. Both stated that they wanted to get back to me on it in the morning....so it's still here as of now.
