I am looking for options in providing a satellite internet connection to a community of couple of hundred people in northern British Columbia, Canada.  We have a school (about 40 students), an adult learning centre and a band office that are the primary users.  Most of the use is email and web browsing but we also want to be able to provide videoconferencing to the outside if that is at all possible.

We currently have a connection through a c-band dish provided through the National Satellite Initiative but that program is coming to an end next year so I am looking at other options for the future.

I have been in contact with Galaxy Broadband (Hugesnet), VSAT and xPlorenet but I am wondering if anybody can point me to any other providers that I haven't connected with yet.

Thanks,

Hey NorthWill,

I live in Canada too in a rural region and it is too far to get any kind of internet access except dial up.

I did my research on what is the best satellite internet access and found out the Xplornet high speed Internet access.

I can only say good thing about my internet connection, it is fast and stable and reliable and the price is good.

I am not sure if it is available at your location..? I hope for you.

You can look at the plans and pricing here:
