This page is updated with effect from 11 July 2026. NORAD General Perturbations (GP) Element Sets have replaced Two Line Elements.
These files are in comma separated variable (.csv) format and this
immediately loadable into spreadsheets like LibreOffice Calc.
Use comma separator (and not space separator)
The first line of the file contains the column names, the following lines are the data for each satellite. An example of the first few lines of a GP elements set are below.
OBJECT_NAME,OBJECT_ID,EPOCH,MEAN_MOTION,ECCENTRICITY,INCLINATION,RA_OF_ASC_NODE,ARG_OF_PERICENTER,MEAN_ANOMALY,EPHEMERIS_TYPE,CLASSIFICATION_TYPE,NORAD_CAT_ID,ELEMENT_SET_NO,REV_AT_EPOCH,BSTAR,MEAN_MOTION_DOT,MEAN_MOTION_DDOT

These text files list two line elements for satellites in the geostationary Clarke orbit. They are called two line elements but are actually 3 lines, where the first line is the satellite name and the next two lines, numbered 1 and 2 comprise the important "2 line elements" data.

Figure showing the format and meaning of the various fields.
Note that with recent launches of multiple satellites for OneWeb and Starlink the International designator has been expanded to allow "item off the rocket" to be, for example AA meaning the 27th item.
The "U" after the satellite catalog number means "Unclassified"
The first 2 digits of the Epoch are the year and the remaining digits are the day in year number, plus 8 decimal places for fractions of a day. If you process the list beware in early January when some of the epoch date/times may be in the previous year.
Example 2 line element:
ESIAFI 1 (COMSTAR 4)
1 12309U 81018A 12183.01984620 -.00000113 00000-0 10000-3 0 5679
2 12309 14.6181 0.2331 0004816 22.0780 337.9509 1.00285723116322
